Rex wraps up acquisition of Australian FIFO operator National Jet Express

Australian airline Rex has wrapped up the previously announced AUD 48 million acquisition of National Jet Express from Cobham Aviation Services Australia.

National Jet Express, which was a regional services arm of Cobham Aviation Services Australia, is a provider of Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) services in Western Australia and South Australia.

Lim Kim Hai — Rex Executive Chairman said: “As we now officially complete the purchase, I would like to pay tribute to the sellers, Advent International, which have prepared the sale in the most meticulous and professional way I have ever seen in my life.”

The deal was announced in July 2022 and was subject to approval from the Australian Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) approval and other regulatory approvals.

Lim Kim Hai revealed that Rex will look to immediately lease another two De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 NextGen (NG) aircraft for National Jet Express to address the expected surge in demand for the FIFO services provider.
