Empire’s Voilà enhances shopping experience in Alberta with home-delivery and curbside pickup
Empire Company has rolled out its premier online grocery home-delivery service, Voilà, to residents in Calgary, Edmonton, and nearby regions, heralding a significant step forward in its e-commerce expansion.
Voilà brings almost 20,000 items from major food retailers such as Safeway, Chalo!, Sobeys, and FreshCo to customers, ensuring fresh local favorites from Alberta are only a click away.
The online grocery home-delivery service promises not only freshness but also convenience. It offers in-store prices with no hidden charges, and customers can look forward to their groceries delivered straight to their doors in handy one-hour delivery windows. Alberta residents can now order online at voila.ca or via the user-friendly Voilà mobile app.
This innovative service relies on the technology of Ocado Group, housed in a new 290,000-sq.-ft. Customer Fulfillment Centre (CFC) in Rocky View County, Alberta. Here, orders are assembled with the assistance of robots, and a dedicated Voilà team handles the delivery in refrigerated vehicles. The brand is already a success in Ontario and Quebec, where it won the title of the #1 grocery delivery service due to its impressive 99% order accuracy and 95% on-time delivery rate.

The team at the Rocky View County CFC is committed to freshness. Products’ shelf lives are closely monitored to ensure that only the freshest items are selected for delivery, living up to their motto “if it’s not fresh, it’s free!”. The groceries, including fresh produce and meat sourced from top-notch Canadian and global farms, are offered at no hidden markup, and can be delivered for a flat fee, or even for free with a Delivery Pass.
Voilà offers the dual options of home delivery and curbside pickup, with the latter remaining available at 16 of Empire’s 141 regional stores. The Rocky View County CFC is Empire’s third e-commerce facility following the inauguration of CFCs in the Greater Toronto Area and Greater Montreal. A fourth Voilà CFC is scheduled for launch in Greater Vancouver in 2025, signaling Empire Company’s progressive approach to e-commerce.
