Data Patterns inks technology transfer deal with IN-SPACe for advanced SAR radar capability

In a pivotal move for the aerospace electronics industry, Data Patterns (India) Limited has secured a Licensing and Transfer of Technology (ToT) contract with IN-SPACe, an independent nodal agency operating under the Department of Space (DoS). The collaboration paves the way for Data Patterns to harness the potential of advanced miniature SAR Radar technology.

Key Stakeholders & Origins of the Technology

The official ToT agreement witnessed G. Kuppuswamy, Vice President of Data Patterns (India) Limited, alongside Rajeev Jyoti, Technical Director of IN-SPACe, and A. Arunachalam, Director of NSIL, marking their endorsements. The innovative technology, originating from the Space Applications Centre (SAC) of ISRO, acts as a precursor to ISRO’s forthcoming high-resolution SAR satellite, the NISAR.

Data Patterns’ Vision for the Collaboration

Sharing his perspective on the union, G. Kuppuswamy expressed, “We are delighted to be associated with IN-SPACe. This technology will enable SAR radar development by Data Patterns, complementing the large portfolio of Radars already available from the company. Data Patterns expects to enhance this technology with its capability with Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for object detection and classification. This alliance is also a step towards utilising India’s space resources better and increasing space-based activities.”
