The National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC) has entered into a pivotal agreement with IBM, granting UK researchers cloud access to IBM Quantum’s Premium Plan and its impressive fleet of quantum computing systems. This initiative, set to catalyze significant research advancements, places the NQCC within the IBM Quantum Network’s global sphere, underlining the center’s commitment to driving quantum computing frontier in the UK.
Expanding Quantum Horizons for UK Academia and Research
A strategic collaboration, championed by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), the NQCC’s new endeavor seeks to empower the academic and public sector with tools to spearhead cutting-edge projects and scientific discovery. Dr. Michael Cuthbert, Director of the NQCC, emphasized the agreement’s role in bolstering the national quantum effort, stating, “The agreement with IBM will enable the NQCC to provide utility-scale quantum computing resources for the UK’s vibrant research community.”
