Tata Power’s new EZ CHARGE RFID Card to revolutionize EV charging in India

Tata Power, a leading player in India’s growing electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions market, has introduced the EZ CHARGE card, an advanced RFID (Radio-frequency identification) card that aims to redefine the EV charging experience for numerous EV owners across the country. The card was launched at the Bombay House by Tata Power’s CEO & MD, Dr Praveer Sinha, and MD of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, Shailesh Chandra.

Offering unparalleled convenience with its Tap, Charge, and Go functionality, the EZ CHARGE RFID card features a built-in chip for efficient, secure, and seamless initiation of charging sessions and payment. Users can begin charging their vehicles by simply tapping the card on a Tata Power EZ charger, based on pre-set recharge values.

Tata Power’s extensive EV charging infrastructure spans 350 cities with a presence in 550 cities, including over 40,000 home chargers, 4,000+ public and semi-public charging points, and 250 bus-charging points. The company has ambitious plans to establish 25,000 additional charging points within the next five years to further foster the EV ecosystem in India.

Dr Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, emphasized the company’s commitment to enhancing customer experience and promoting sustainable mobility. In his words, “The Tata Power EZ CHARGE card is a new frontier integrating RFID technology with our Charge Point network to offer a quick, simple and easy charging solution to EV owners.”

Similarly, Shailesh Chandra, MD of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, highlighted the card’s intuitive design and the company’s continuous improvement of the EV ownership experience. He stated, “We have been continuously improving the ownership experience for our EV customers […] Creating accessible charging infrastructure is key to driving faster EV adoption.”

The EZ CHARGE Card promises added benefits in areas with limited mobile network coverage, enabling EV owners to charge their vehicles without any interruptions. By linking with the EZ Charge account, the RFID card also ensures privacy and security, and streamlines the charging and payment process, enhancing overall efficiency.
