Streamplay Studio Limited, a leader in competitive casual gaming, eSports technology, and music streaming services, has announced a key strategic expansion through a partnership with Digicel Pacific, a subsidiary of Australian telecom giant Telstra. This collaboration will see Streamplay introduce its innovative product suite, including mJams, mGames, and core Value-Added Services (VAS), to the Samoan market, leveraging Digicel Samoa’s dominant position with over 71% market share of mobile subscribers.
The partnership is a testament to Streamplay’s growing influence in the Pacific Islands, following its successful ventures in Fiji and Vanuatu. The collaboration with Digicel Samoa represents a significant market opportunity, as Samoa boasts a population of around 224,000, with strong internet (78.2%) and mobile (67.2%) penetration rates.
Under the agreement, Streamplay is set to earn a 50% revenue share from VAS and mGames and 60% from mJams. This mutually beneficial partnership also includes a joint 50/50 marketing contribution between Streamplay and Digicel Samoa over a 3-year term.
Streamplay will initially launch mJams, its flagship music streaming service, followed by mGames, its mobile gaming platform. The structured launch strategy includes a four-week interval between each platform’s introduction, ensuring effective market preparation and integration into Digicel Samoa’s ecosystem.
Streamplay’s marketing strategy for Samoa encompasses a blend of digital, social media, and traditional print media campaigns, along with in-store promotions at Digicel retail outlets, targeting a diverse audience demographic.
Following the rollout of mJams and mGames, Streamplay plans to introduce other core VAS products, aligning with its goal to offer a comprehensive suite of digital services. This expansion reflects Streamplay’s commitment to enriching the digital experience in Samoa and introduces innovative digital solutions to the market.
While the revenue generated by this partnership remains subject to subscriber uptake in Samoa, this agreement is material to Streamplay due to the potential and scale of the partnership with Digicel Pacific. The partnership marks Streamplay’s entry into a new territory, solidifying its presence in the Pacific telecom and digital services sector.
