Rockwell Automation and Infinitum announce high-efficiency motors

Rockwell Automation, Inc. (NYSE: ROK), a global leader in industrial automation and digital transformation, has announced an exclusive partnership with Infinitum, the creator of the sustainable Aircore EC motor system. The collaboration aims to develop and distribute high-efficiency, integrated low voltage drive and motor technology. This new class of technology promises to significantly save energy and reduce costs for industrial customers, while also shrinking their carbon footprint.

How the New Technology Can Help Industry Go Green

The partnership comes at a time when companies are increasingly focusing on energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Variable frequency drives (VFDs) and high-efficiency motors are under the spotlight, especially considering that, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), electric motors account for about 40% of global electricity consumption. This figure rises to nearly 70% for industrial companies. Rockwell’s PowerFlex drive technology will be integrated with Infinitum’s Aircore EC motor system, creating a solution that consumes 10% less energy, uses 66% less copper, and is 50% smaller and lighter than traditional iron core motors.

Availability and Future Impact

The integrated VFD and high-efficiency motors will be available in late 2024 and will be distributed exclusively through Rockwell and its partners. The partnership aims to make a direct and widespread impact on industrial companies by reducing electricity consumption and increasing sustainability in this energy-intensive sector.
