Refinitiv makes investment in ModuleQ

Refinitiv, a London-based financial market data and infrastructure provider, has invested in and signed a partnership agreement with ModuleQ, a Microsoft partner for Office 365 and Microsoft Teams.

The partnership between Refinitiv and ModuleQ is expected to offer proactive, mission-critical business information directly in their workflow, to professionals across various industries.

ModuleQ’s intelligent app is said to predict the current priorities of users while working in Microsoft Teams to deliver them timely and relevant content, news, and also analytics.

David Brunner – ModuleQ CEO said: “This investment by Refinitiv is the realization of using AI to surface the information professionals need before they know it’s even available. Companies are looking to Microsoft Teams to make them work smarter and our AI makes that even easier.”

Refinitiv and ModuleQ have been collaborating since 2018. By using their machine learning and analytics capabilities, the partners have been providing proactive insights customized to the current work priorities of professionals through the ModuleQ app by utilizing Refinitiv Intelligent Tagging and Refinitiv Knowledge Graph.

Through the partnership, the companies intend to continue to integrate certain content from Refinitiv, which could include aftermarket research and company profiles, enabling the ModuleQ app to extract key business insights pertained to the quickly varying priorities of individual professional users.

The ModuleQ application is especially said to be beneficial to professional services businesses, including consulting, banking, or legal advisory, whose teams require up to date and relevant information relevant to their clients.

ModuleQ’s Personal Data Fusion AI is based on data fusion technology which was developed originally for situational awareness in military theatres. ModuleQ adapted this technology to get through information overload and for helping professionals continue to be informed about their priorities.

The enterprise solution of the company is provided as a virtual application within a secure instance of Microsoft Azure of the customer and behind the customer firewall.

Refinitiv’s tool, Refinitiv Intelligent Tagging uses natural language processing (NLP), data-mining technologies, and text analytics to extract meaning from huge amounts of unstructured content, which includes news articles and others.

Another tool of Refinitiv, Refinitiv Knowledge Graph is a linked data feed of the company’s financial content sets with a pre-identified set of relationships to enable customers to uncover connections within and across data sets that were previously undetected.
