QinetiQ secures $127m contract to bolster US defense capabilities
QinetiQ Group plc announced the acquisition of a five-year, $127 million contract from the Office of the Secretary of Defense Strategic Capabilities Office (SCO) in the United States. This strategic partnership will involve QinetiQ providing secure and cutting-edge services and products to enable SCO to deploy advanced capabilities in support of strategic operations.
This contract marks a significant milestone, building upon QinetiQ’s existing work and strong customer relationship with SCO. It also represents incremental growth compared to previous collaborations. The primary goal of this contract is to support the mission of identifying, analyzing, and prototyping disruptive applications of new systems. It also aims to implement emerging technologies to generate operational effects that can effectively counter strategic adversaries.
This latest achievement comes on the heels of the $224 million contract awarded to QinetiQ’s subsidiary, Avantus, on August 31, 2023. Both contracts underscore Avantus’ ongoing success in winning substantial programs, aligning perfectly with the goal of achieving over 10% annual revenue growth from Avantus.
Steve Wadey, Group Chief Executive Officer of QinetiQ, commented on the significance of this contract. He emphasized how it reflects the company’s commitment to its ambitious growth plan. The capabilities acquired with Avantus in the previous year have proven to be highly relevant to customers, providing vital services in support of addressing complex national security challenges.
