Maersk Drilling wins $9.6m contract for Maersk Integrator rig from Aker BP

Danish drilling rig operator Maersk Drilling has bagged an additional one-well contract worth $9.6 million from Aker BP for the low-emission rig Maersk Integrator.

According to Maersk Drilling, the Maersk Integrator will spud an exploration well for Aker BP in Norwegian waters, which is in direct continuation of a previously announced work scope.

The contract is anticipated to begin in December 2021, with a projected duration of 36 days.

The contract value excludes integrated services delivered and potential performance bonuses.

Maersk Drilling said that the one-well contract has an option for additional work.

The Maersk Integrator drilling rig is contracted under the terms of the frame agreement entered into by Maersk Drilling and Aker BP in 2017 as part of the Aker BP Jack-up Alliance, which also includes Halliburton.

Maersk Drilling said that recently the ultra-harsh environment jack-up rig had undergone a series of upgrades for its conversion into a hybrid, low-emission rig.

Morten Kelstrup – COO of Maersk Drilling said: “We’re delighted to add this additional work scope for Maersk Integrator which will provide an opportunity to prove that our alliance model with Aker BP and Halliburton also can be applied to an exploration campaign, expectedly resulting in significant efficiency gains and emissions reductions.”
