Investigation underway after gunshots fired outside Salman Khan’s home in Mumbai
Mumbai Police has initiated an investigation following an incident where gunshots were heard outside the Mumbai residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan early this morning. The actor’s home, located in the upscale Bandra area, became the scene of a potentially dangerous situation as two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle fired five rounds into the air and sped away.
At around 5 am today, the assailants fired shots, one of which hit the first floor of the building where Mr. Khan resides. Authorities reported that a foreign pistol was used in the attack. Efforts are currently underway to identify and locate the shooters involved in this alarming incident.
This incident adds to the ongoing security concerns surrounding Salman Khan. Last year, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) revealed that Khan was among the top targets of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Bishnoi’s animosity towards Khan stems from the actor’s controversial 1998 blackbuck hunting incident, which deeply offended the Bishnoi community, known for their strong conservationist beliefs.
In response to these threats, Mumbai Police had previously heightened Salman Khan’s security to a Y+ category after another threat was identified. This came following a surveillance operation by Bishnoi’s associate, Sampat Nehra, who had reconnoitered Khan’s residence. Nehra was later apprehended by the Special Task Force of Haryana Police. Additionally, a lookout circular (LOC) was issued against an Indian student in the United Kingdom after he allegedly sent a threatening email to Salman Khan.
Mumbai Police are continuing their efforts to track down the perpetrators of this morning’s gunfire. The situation remains tense, and law enforcement is treating the matter with utmost seriousness, given the actor’s high-profile status and previous threats.
