In a display of precision and strategic execution, the Indian Navy successfully conducted a 12-hour-long anti-piracy operation on Friday, March 29, resulting in the rescue of 23 Pakistani nationals. The operation targeted a hijacked Iranian fishing vessel, FV A1-Kambar, which had been overtaken by Somali pirates. Remarkably, the operation, involving the warship INS Sumedha among others, was completed without firing a single bullet, underscoring the navy’s commitment to peace and security in the region.
The operation kicked off in the early hours when the INS Sumedha intercepted the hijacked vessel about 90 nautical miles southwest of the Socotra Archipelago. As the operation progressed, another warship, INS Sumedha, joined in, amplifying the navy’s tactical advantage against the pirates. The swift and coordinated action of the Indian Navy led to the detention of nine pirates and the secure rescue of the crew comprising 23 Pakistani nationals.
