Despite a predicted lull in rain for Hyderabad on Monday, the possibility of continued rainfall across Telangana looms due to existing low pressure. On Sunday afternoon, numerous areas in the city witnessed moderate rains leading to slowed traffic on several main roads and flyovers, despite the weekend typically resulting in fewer vehicles on the road.
Locations such as Langer Houz, Nanal Nagar, Narsingi, Rajendranagar, Mehdipatnam, and several others reported sluggish vehicular movement. As the downpour swept across the state, residents took to Twitter to share visuals of the unexpected rainfall, including those in Dharmapuri and Jagtial. Light to moderate rainfall was observed in several districts, with Adilabad experiencing the heaviest downpour at 43.3 cm.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a potential formation of low pressure over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal off south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh come Monday, a condition that may lead to heavy rainfall. An orange alert has been issued for numerous districts for three days from Tuesday, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall, possible lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph.
In the next 48 hours, Hyderabad is anticipated to experience mild to moderate rains or thundershowers, along with a drop in temperature. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 29 and 23 degrees Celsius, respectively.
