Food Lion to invest $158m to remodel 92 grocery stores in South Carolina
Food Lion store remodeling : US grocery store chain Food Lion said that it will invest $158 million for remodeling 92 stores in South Carolina.
The investment will also be used for reducing prices, and expanding the range of products available at each of the Food Lion stores located in the greater Myrtle Beach, Florence, Columbia and Charleston markets.
The US grocery store chain expects to recruit about 2,000 new associates at the South Carolina grocery stores in a move to improve customer experience.
Food Lion announced that all the 92 stores will be open to shoppers through normal operating hours during the remodel project. Upon completion, the remodeled Food Lion stores are expected to be easier to navigate and shop.
Once the renovations of the 92 South Carolina stores are completed, Food Lion would have remodeled 80% of its grocery store network of more than 1,000 in the 10 US states its operates.

The remodeled Food Lion stores in South Carolina are also expected will offer increased local, natural, organic and gluten-free items. The stores will have improved deli/bakery service as well.
Six of the Food Lion stores will feature walk-in produce coolers to help keep produce fresher, longer.
