Suzlon Group disclosed a significant order from Everrenew Energy Private Limited to develop a 100.8MW wind power project.

The Indian renewable energy solutions provider will erect 48 wind turbine generators (WTGs) of its S120 – 2.1 MW model with a Hybrid Lattice Tubular tower in the Velliyanani Phase II region in Karur district and Vengaimandalam in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. The project is slated for completion by March 2024.

Suzlon will supply the necessary wind turbines and oversee the execution and commissioning of the project. “We are delighted to announce our first order with Everrenew Energy Private Limited,” said JP Chalasani, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group. He highlighted the significance of the trust placed in Suzlon’s technology and comprehensive capabilities in the wind energy value chain by the fast-growing renewable energy project management company, Everrenew Energy.

Power generated by this project is aimed at the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) consumer segment, thereby promoting the broader penetration of renewable energy in India. The project could generate enough electricity to power approximately 65,000 households and potentially offset roughly 2.58 lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

This venture aligns with Suzlon’s commitment to promoting Indian industries towards their net-zero targets and powering the domestic economy with green energy. It also supports the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ vision, given that a majority of Suzlon’s turbines are domestically produced.

Suzlon’s turbines employ time-tested Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) technology, efficiently integrating wind turbines into the utility network to meet grid requirements. Their continuous R&D efforts aim to enhance turbine performance, harness more energy from low wind sites, and lower the cost of energy.
