Aker Solutions bags contract from Shell for Nyhamna gas processing plant
Aker Solutions has won a contract valued between NOK 0.5 billion and NOK 1.5 billion from Shell to deliver brownfield modifications and maintenance support for the Nyhamna gas processing plant in Norway. Shell, operating as the technical service provider to Gassco, has extended a framework agreement with Aker Solutions until September 2028. This substantial contract focuses on the Nyhamna natural gas processing plant in Aukra, connected to the Polarled pipeline in the Norwegian Sea.
Long-Term Relationship Fuels Aker Solutions and Shell Partnership
This new contract serves as an extension of a long-standing relationship between Shell and Aker Solutions, who has been providing services to the Nyhamna facility since 2007. “We’re pleased that Shell is giving us renewed trust to be its main contractor on this significant facility, and look forward to continuing the successful collaboration,” commented Paal Eikeseth, executive vice president and head of Life Cycle at Aker Solutions. The contract further boosts Aker Solutions’ already strong backlog.

A Boon for Aker Solutions’ Employees and Local Subcontractors
The newly-acquired contract will significantly benefit over 150 Aker Solutions employees located in Kristiansund. Paal Eikeseth added, “This extension secures work for our employees on site at Nyhamna, our engineering office in Kristiansund, and it will provide ripple effects to local subcontractors and others.”
