NuRe FutureTech, a wholly-owned subsidiary of 3i Infotech, has joined hands with the Department of Computer Science at SRM Valliammai Engineering College, Chennai, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch a state-of-the-art AI Lab on the college campus.

This partnership, part of the Campus to Corporate initiative, aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial requirements by fostering knowledge exchange, encouraging research, and promoting academic growth.

The collaboration will extend to other academic departments, including Information and Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science. It proposes a curriculum that ranges from introductory courses to AI specializations in various sectors, potentially influencing around 50 students per batch with a faculty of 27 professors.

An integral part of this initiative is the comprehensive internship program, designed to prepare students for industry roles. The program not only provides practical learning and internship opportunities for the students but also facilitates ongoing training for professors to upskill in AI, Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), and other relevant technologies.

Thompson P. Gnanam — 3i Infotech MD and Global CEO said: “We believe this academia-industry partnership will be a gamechanger to bridge the skill-gap in the industry and will pave the way for many more such initiatives. The program offers a decentralized learning ecosystem fostering a flexible, personalized, and self-directed learning experience. It encourages learners to connect and interact directly, facilitating knowledge sharing, collective problem-solving, and the development of social networks based on shared interests or expertise.

Damodharan Padmanaban — 3i Infotech Global Head of Cognitive Computing said: “The very core structure of technology will remain the same irrespective of the extent of its development over the years. The gamechanger aspect of tech will only be an enhanced problem-solving mechanism in the complex business solutions, where we can make the AI work for us instead of being overtaken by it.

“In the contemporary world, a facet of utmost importance is the real-world application of learning. However, being trained through a certain course is distant from actually performing a task in the ever-evolving complex business scenarios.
