Wipro to fast-track cloud adoption for Finland’s Outokumpu
Wipro has signed an agreement with Outokumpu, a Finland-based stainless-steel manufacturer, to speed up latter’s organisation-wide cloud transformation initiative.
Under the five-year deal, the Indian technology services and consulting firm will build a Microsoft Azure powered platform and provide next-generation applications for Outokumpu’s corporate and factory applications.
The cloud transformation program is expected to convert Outokumpu into an agile, data-driven, sustainability-focused organisation.
The initiative will also help the stainless-steel manufacturer in Finland improve productivity, reliability, and the cost-effectiveness of IT services.
Stefan Erdmann — Outokumpu Chief Technology Officer said: “Our 2025 vision for growth sees us concentrating on three priorities: sustainability, growth from productivity, and customer-focused steering, strengthening our position as the customer’s first choice in sustainable stainless steel.
“This partnership with Wipro will expedite this agile, productive, and customer-centric approach, thanks to Wipro’s expertise in delivering digital solutions for metals and steel companies, and its deep understanding of our mission-critical systems and processes.”
Outokumpu will reduce its carbon footprint associated with IT infrastructure once the Microsoft Azure powered platform goes live as the platform reduces power consumption.
As part of the contract, Wipro will perform application cloud discovery, assess, design, and right-size the Microsoft Azure platform, migrate and modernize applications.
The Indian technology services company will also build an agile and DevSecOps-based IT operating model for the stainless-steel manufacturer in Finland to improve the availability of applications and eliminate downtime.
Wipro FullStride Cloud Services will deliver all the necessary services to plan, create, design, develop and manage the entire cloud transformation program.
Vinay Firake — Wipro Senior Vice President and Nordics Managing Director said: “This deal is the latest step in our partnership with Outokumpu to accelerate its digital transformation. Wipro is fuelling the change in how Outokumpu’s IT services are delivered to the business, making them more resilient and responsive to the ever-changing needs of the market and its customers.
“This long-term relationship has been made possible because of how we partner with customers on-the-ground here in the Nordics. We have accelerated our focus and investments in Finland and continue to build teams locally to drive customer centricity and innovation.”
