Westland Insurance acquires Nova Scotia-based Storm Insurance Group

Westland Insurance Group, a Canadian property and casualty insurance broker, has wrapped up its previously announced acquisition of Storm Insurance Group based in Nova Scotia.

The deal was announced in December 2020. It gives Westland Insurance new branches in the Western, Central, Quebec, and Atlantic regions, along with more than 120 employees in half a dozen provinces, and 100,000 plus clients across Canada.

Supporting the expansion strategy of Westland Insurance of catering to more communities across Canada, the transaction marks its maiden acquisition with offices in the Nova Scotia and Quebec provinces.

Storm Insurance Group is a brokerage group that operates under various brands, which include retail brokerages A.P. Reid, Axxium, and Sheppard, group brokerage MyGroup, managing general agent (MGA) Agile Underwriting Solutions, and also digital insurance platform ZipSure.ca.

The Canadian brokerage group is said to specialize in making partnerships with carriers, associations, brokerages, and other organizations for offering tailored insurance solutions and programs.
