Walmart to acquire robotic e-grocery fulfillment company Alert Innovation

American multinational retailer Walmart has signed an agreement to acquire e-grocery fulfillment automation solutions provider Alert Innovation for an undisclosed price.

Specializing in robotic e-grocery fulfillment, Alert Innovation provides solutions that are aimed at transforming how retailers operate and people shop.

The robotic e-grocery fulfillment company has been a partner of Walmart since 2016, providing customized technology for the retailer’s market fulfillment centers (MFCs).

Alert Innovation commenced piloting the Alphabot System in Walmart’s first MFC in Salem, New Hampshire in 2019.

The Alphabot System is an automated fulfillment solution that utilizes omnidirectional robots in a temperature-controlled system for fresh, efficient, and high-quality grocery fulfillment.

The e-grocery fulfillment automation solutions provider has also designed Novastore, a store concept utilizing the Alphabot System, to deliver a dynamic and efficient shopping experience.

Based in the Boston area, Alert Innovation will continue to operate under its brand following the completion of the acquisition.
