Amid the pandemic, witnessed an unprecedented surge in unemployment claims, ranking as the third-highest in the nation. This surge placed immense strain on the state’s 40-year-old unemployment system, highlighting the urgent need for transformation.

Georgia Department of Labor has selected TCS as the strategic partner to build a modern, agile system that eliminates technological constraints and enhances accessibility. The choice is grounded in TCS’ proven expertise in unemployment insurance modernization, with a track record of success in helping other states revamp their unemployment insurance systems, some of which serve as the blueprint for Georgia’s modernization plans.

The upcoming web-based platform, designed with a human-centric approach, will simplify the application process for Georgians seeking unemployment insurance benefits. Furthermore, advanced security features embedded in the new platform will bolster fraud prevention, safeguard taxpayer funds, and ensure benefits reach those in genuine need.

Bruce Thompson, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Labor, emphasized, “A modern and responsive unemployment system minimizes claims processing times, enhances the customer experience, prevents fraud, and positions GDOL to become the most transparent and responsive agency in state government.”
