Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power and a leading renewable energy player in India, has been awarded a 200 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project by SJVN Limited. This project is a part of India’s ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030, as outlined by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

Innovative Hybrid Power Plant Design

The 200 MW FDRE project integrates solar, wind, and battery storage to ensure dispatchable power during peak hours, contributing to grid stability. This innovative approach makes TPREL’s plant capable of providing round-the-clock power supply, aiding discoms in fulfilling their Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) and Energy Storage Obligation (ESO).

First FDRE Power Tender Win for TPREL

This achievement is a first for TPREL in the FDRE power tender sector, showcasing the company’s commitment to providing reliable and sustainable energy solutions. The project includes a Greenshoe option, allowing TPREL to potentially increase the capacity beyond the initial 200 MW.

TPREL’s Strategic Collaboration with SJVN

The collaboration with SJVN marks a significant milestone in TPREL’s journey to expand its renewable energy portfolio and support India’s sustainable energy ambitions. The project is slated to be commissioned within 24 months from the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) execution date.

Environmental Impact and TPREL’s Expanding Portfolio

The installation of this FDRE project is expected to offset approximately 9 lakh metric tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. With this win, TPREL’s total renewables capacity reaches 8,314 MW, including a mix of solar and wind projects.

Competitive Bidding Process and Project Commissioning

The project was awarded to TPREL through competitive bidding and a reverse e-auction, reflecting the company’s expertise and competitiveness in the renewable energy sector. The project’s completion will further bolster TPREL’s position as a key player in India’s green energy initiatives.
