Tata Consultancy Services announces resignation of CEO Rajesh Gopinathan

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced that the company’s managing director (MD) and CEO Rajesh Gopinathan has resigned after a six-year stint in the roles in order to follow his other interests.

The Indian IT company has stated that its board of directors has taken a look at his request and approved it. Rajesh Gopinathan will continue with the company until 15 September 2023 to facilitate transition and support for his successor.

Rajesh Gopinathan said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my exciting 22 year tenure at TCS. It has been a pleasure working closely with Chandra, who has mentored me through this entire period.

“The last six years of leading this iconic organization have been most enriching and fulfilling, adding over $10Bn in incremental revenues and over $70Bn increase in market capitalization.”

The board has named K Krithivasan as the CEO designate effective 16 March 2023. K Krithivasan will undergo a transition with Rajesh Gopinathan, and will be named the CEO and Managing Director for the upcoming financial year.

N Chandrasekaran — Tata Consultancy Services Chairman said: “Over the last 6 years, Rajesh has provided strong leadership as the MD & CEO and has laid the foundation for the next phase of TCS’ growth with significant investments in cloud, agile and automation to help clients accelerate their transformation.”

K Krithivasan is currently the President and Global Head of the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) Business Group at Tata Consultancy Services. He has been in the technology industry for more than 34 years since joining the company in 1989.

Through his lengthy tenure at Tata Consultancy Services, he’s held different leadership positions in the areas of delivery, customer relationship management, large program management, and sales.
