Union Minister Smriti Irani has launched a scathing critique against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging his interactions with entities sponsored by George Soros.

Soros has been a prominent critic of the Modi government.

The Union Minister claimed that the Congress party has yet to address whether Rahul Gandhi had a meeting with Sunita Vishwanath, a frequently targeted activist labeled as anti-Hindu. She also suggested that Rahul Gandhi’s New York visit was orchestrated by Tanzeem Ansari, project director of the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA). ICNA reportedly has affiliations with Jamaat-e-Islam, both recognized as radical Islamist organizations.

Smriti Irani queried why Rahul Gandhi was associating with those backed by George Soros, given the billionaire’s contentious intentions are apparent to every Indian. She suggested that this isn’t Rahul Gandhi’s sole connection to Soros; during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Karnataka, Rahul Gandhi was allegedly accompanied by the Global Vice President of the Open Society Foundation, an organization funded by Soros.

This verbal onslaught on Rahul Gandhi was prompted by the filing of an FIR against Amit Malviya, the head of BJP’s IT department in Karnataka, on charges of inciting enmity between groups and provoking people through a video allegedly lampooning Rahul Gandhi posted on social media. The FIR was based on a complaint by Ramesh Babu, a member of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee.

Smriti Irani affirmed that the FIR came as a response to the BJP’s stand on Rahul Gandhi’s US trip, reinforcing her claim that the Gandhi family is inclined to suppress the truth when in power.
