Shocking twist in Paris unrest: Mayor’s house brutally attacked and set on fire

Amid the ongoing unrest in Paris following the shooting of a teenager named Nahel by a police officer, a disturbing incident has unfolded in the southern suburb of L’Hay-les-Roses. The home of Mayor Vincent Jeanbrun was ram-raided and set ablaze while his wife and two young children were asleep inside, according to statements made by the official.

The incident occurred in the early hours and resulted in injuries to Jeanbrun’s wife and one of their children, aged five and seven, as they scrambled to escape the burning building. Jeanbrun, who belongs to the conservative Les Republicains party, was at the town hall, which itself has been under attack for several nights since the shooting and is now fortified with barbed wire and barricades.

Jeanbrun relayed the terrifying ordeal through his Twitter account, sharing that his home was ram-raided and then torched by individuals while his family was asleep inside. He added that his wife and one of his children sustained injuries while trying to shield themselves and flee from the attackers.

The local prosecutor has since confirmed the opening of an attempted murder investigation in connection with the incident. No arrests have been made at this stage. The prosecutor added that the mayor’s wife was injured as she fled through the backyard of the house.
