Aker Solutions has been awarded a maintenance and modifications contract from Equinor for the Peregrino oil field in Brazilian waters.
The Norwegian engineering company did not reveal the value of the contract, which is for four years and has an extension option for two years.
Aker Solutions stated that it had won various subsea contracts from Equinor in recent years. The company had manufactured parts of the subsea equipment related to the contracts in Brazil.
Some of the projects for which Aker Solutions had worked with Equinor include Johan Castberg, Troll, and Breidablikk in Norway.
Linda Litlekalsøy Aase, executive vice president, electrification, maintenance and modifications at Aker Solutions said: “We are excited to build on our strong relationship with Equinor.
“Together we will ensure safe and successful operations in Brazil, work to extend the lifetime of Equinor´s assets and find low-carbon solutions where possible.”
Brief details of Peregrino oil field offshore Brazil
Peregrino, which was discovered in 1994, is a heavy oil field located in the Campos Basin. Contained in BM-C-7 and BM-C-47 licenses in water depths of nearly 100m, the Peregrino oil field began production in 2011.
Equinor (60%) and its partner Sinochem (40%) are developing phase 2 of the Peregrino heavy oil field with an investment of $3.5 billion.
Scheduled to begin production from the Peregrino south-west area in 2021, the phase 2 development calls for the installation of a third fixed wellhead platform, which will be connected to the Peregrino floating production, storage and offloading (Peregrino FPSO).
