NLC India and Rajasthan to form joint venture for sustainable energy
In a significant move towards achieving energy security and promoting renewable energy in India, NLC India Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of Rajasthan. This strategic partnership, endorsed by the vision of the Honorable Prime Minister for Energy Security and the guidance of Honourable Minister for Coal, Mines, and Parliamentary Affairs Shri. Prahlad Joshi, is set to revolutionize the nation’s approach to sustainable, affordable, and round-the-clock power supply.
The MOU encompasses a colossal investment exceeding Rs 7000 Crores, earmarked for the formation of a Joint Venture aimed at establishing a 125 MW Lignite Based Power Plant and a 1000 MW Solar Power Plant. The initiative is not only a testament to NLC India’s commitment to renewable energy but also aligns with the company’s vision to evolve into a power major with a capacity of 17 GW, including over 6 GW from renewable sources by 2030.
The MOU signing ceremony saw the esteemed presence of Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, Chief Minister, Rajasthan; Shri Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines; and other dignitaries, underscoring the high-level commitment to this venture. Shri Pralhad Joshi lauded the project as a manifestation of the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision and the proactive efforts of CM Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma in fast-tracking these pivotal projects.
This collaboration between NLC India Limited and the Government of Rajasthan, further supported by MOUs with Coal India Ltd, NTPC, PGCIL, and REC, represents a significant step towards bolstering India’s energy infrastructure.
