L&T Construction secures major underground metro project order in Kolkata
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Construction’s Heavy Civil Infrastructure business vertical has secured multiple contracts from prestigious clients, a prominent one being from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL).
The Rail Vikas Nigam Limited contract pertains to the design and construction of an underground metro corridor in Kolkata, specifically linked to the Joka – Esplanade Metro Corridor.

The project’s main responsibilities include designing and constructing the ramp and underground metro railway stretching from Mominpur (Excl.) to Esplanade, a total distance of 5.05 Km. This development also involves the addition of four underground stations: Khidderpore, Victoria, Park Street, and Esplanade.
The construction techniques to be employed encompass tunneling via Tunnel Boring Machine and Cut & Cover methods, followed by architectural finishing, track works, and other related tasks.
