Leaf Resources begins production at pine chemical plant in Apple Tree Creek

Leaf Resources, an Australian chemical manufacturing company, has completed construction at its pine chemical plant in Apple Tree Creek plant, Queensland, and has started production.

The company’s fully-owned subsidiary Essential Queensland has produced the first batches of terpene and rosin from pine trees at the plant located in the Apple Tree Creek town.

Leaf Resources said that the management of Essential Queensland is preparing to operate the pine chemical plant for two shifts on a daily basis.

The chemical manufacturing company said that during the next two to three months, the plant operations will be fine-tuned. Besides, the production will be ramped up to meet its target run rate of 8,000 tonnes per annum of pine chemical production, said Leaf Resources.

The Australian chemical manufacturer said that the raw material supply is consistent with the requirements of the pine chemical plant in Apple Tree Creek.

Essential Queensland has started sales of woodchip and is expected to begin sales of pine chemicals in the coming weeks.

Leaf Resources stated: “Discussions are underway with various parties to increase both the supply of raw materials and increase sales offtake of rosin to meet increased capacity at the existing plant.
