L Catterton wraps up acquisition of Mexican hot sauce producer Cholula

Consumer-focused private equity firm L Catterton has wrapped up its previously announced acquisition of Mexican hot sauce producer Cholula, the maker of the Cholula hot sauce brand.

L Catterton acquisition of Cholula was announced in December 2018.

Cholula launched its hot sauce brand in the US in 1989, and currently, it available in six varieties all over the world.

Cholula hot sauce is created from a generations-old recipe by carefully selecting arbol and piquin peppers in addition to a secret blend of signature spices. The recipe is said to have a strong flavor with the right amount of heat.

The Cholula’s sauce bottle comes with a distinctive wooden cap and artistic yellow label and each bottle is crafted in Jalisco in Mexico.

L Catterton acquisition of Cholula is expected to enable the hot sauce brand to become a standalone entity, thereby helping the hot sauce producer to continue delivering on its potential to become a strong global brand.
