Ten people, including a three-month-old infant and a 10-year-old child, were injured after a hydraulic crane toppled during preparations for demolition work in Mumbai’s Kurla area early on August 21, 2026, striking nearby homes, vehicles and railway overhead electrical equipment.
The accident occurred at around 2.40 am to 3 am near Qureshi Nagar and Indira Nagar in Kurla East. Updated information from civic and project authorities indicated that the injured were taken to Sion Hospital and Bhabha Hospital and were in stable condition.
The crane was associated with work being undertaken by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). Central Railway said the equipment fell onto overhead infrastructure on the single-line Kurla-Trombay railway section, which is primarily used for goods traffic.
