Karnataka Bank appoints Srikrislman Harihara Sarma as MD and CEO

Karnataka Bank, a private sector bank in India, has announced the appointment of Srikrislman Harihara Sarma as its new Managing Director and CEO.

The appointment has taken immediate effect and is set to last for a three-year term, subject to approval by shareholders at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting or within three months from assuming the position, as per SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015.

Srikrislman Harihara Sarma said: “I am proud to join Karnataka Bank as Managing Director & CEO. With over a century of trust and goodwill built by the Bank, I look forward to working with all the stakeholders to further build and grow on that strong foundation.”

Srikrislman Harihara Sarma brings with him a wealth of experience spanning almost four decades in commercial, retail, and transactional banking, as well as technology and payments.

He has held significant roles at esteemed institutions such as HDFC Bank Limited, Yes Bank Limited, and Jio Payments Bank Limited. Notably, at HDFC Bank Limited, he was part of the founding management team and played a crucial role in establishing the bank’s Corporate and Retail Banking, Treasury, and Capital Markets Infrastructure divisions.

During his tenure at Yes Bank Limited, he made significant contributions to the development of the Commercial Banking infrastructure. Additionally, as the MD and CEO of Jio Payments Bank Limited, Srikrislman Harihara Sarma successfully led the application and coordination efforts to secure the license from the RBI.

With his vast experience across various sectors of the banking industry, Srikrislman Harihara Sarma is well-positioned to guide Karnataka Bank towards further success and steer its growth in a dynamic and competitive market.
