Infosys, Microsoft to help Ausgrid in cloud transformation

Infosys and Microsoft have forged a multi-year engagement with Ausgrid, an Australian electricity distributor, to expedite its cloud transformation journey to make it a top digital utility.

According to the Indian IT giant, the program will further the vision of Ausgrid to connect communities and empower lives by focusing on reliability, affordability, and sustainability.

Nick Crowe — acting CIO of Ausgrid said: “With over 4 million Australians relying on our services every day, it is essential we are maintaining our high standard of reliability and connectivity, as well as delivering on the expectations of Australian communities.

“Accelerating our cloud transformation journey in partnership with Infosys and Microsoft allows us to improve the reliability of the network, keep downward pressure on electricity prices and bring new services to market at speed and in a cost-effective manner.”

By adopting cloud, Ausgrid will boost the agility, security, and resilience of its business operations, said Infosys.

The cloud program will help the Australian electricity distributor in reducing the cost of ownership and enhance the performance of its IT systems and applications.

Infosys and Microsoft are expected to help Ausgrid address the challenges by modernizing its application landscape and streamlining the IT infrastructure.

The cloud-driven transformation program, which was rolled out in mid-2020, is being delivered via a phased approach, utilizing a cloud management platform coupled with managed services, said Infosys.

Anand Swaminathan — Executive Vice President and Global Industry Leader Communications, Media and Technology, Infosys said: “Our engagement with Ausgrid has expanded to include this strategic cloud transformation initiative, leveraging Infosys’ Cobalt ecosystem of platforms, solutions and services as well as our deep expertise in the utility industry.

“This engagement further strengthens our global collaboration with Microsoft, and our joint value to the industry.”

Recently, Infosys had launched Infosys Equinox, a new digital commerce platform designed to enable enterprises to securely offer B2B and B2C buyers with hyper-segmented, customized omnichannel commerce experiences.
