In a significant stride towards advancing sustainable energy solutions in Jharkhand, India’s Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, has inaugurated a landmark project that promises to transform the energy landscape of the region. The occasion was marked by the foundation stone laying for Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited’s (HPCL) extensive Gas Network in the Godda-Dumka Geographical Area (GA) and the inauguration of Indian Oil’s Piped Natural Gas (PNG) under the City Gas Distribution project in Deoghar. This pivotal moment was also graced by the Member of Parliament, Loksabha, Shri Nishikant Dubey, demonstrating the project’s high-level endorsement and the government’s commitment to energy sustainability.
With an investment of Rs. 1750 crore, HPCL’s Gas Network project in the Godda-Dumka GA is set to span across six districts, covering a vast expanse of 14507 Sq KM. This initiative is designed to positively impact over 14 lakh households across Godda, Dumka, and other regions, introducing a comprehensive network comprising 370 Km of steel pipelines and MDPE networks. The project ambitiously plans to provide piped gas connections to households and establish 100 CNG stations, significantly enhancing the region’s access to sustainable transportation solutions.
Parallelly, Indian Oil’s PNG project emerges as a beacon of progress in Deoghar, spanning three districts over 6264 Sq KM and aiming to connect more than 6 lakh households with an investment of Rs. 303 crore. By 2027, this initiative is expected to connect 30,000 families through a 350 km MDPE network, positioning Deoghar as the pioneering district in the Santhal Pargana division to adopt PNG. This project not only underscores a profound shift towards energy accessibility and sustainability but also marks Deoghar as a vanguard in the region’s energy transformation.
The far-reaching implications of these projects are manifold, promising to revolutionize the lives of residents while catalyzing growth across commercial and industrial sectors. Over 30,000 families and numerous commercial/industrial institutes in Deoghar will benefit from the PNG connections, gaining access to hassle-free and economical fuel. Similarly, the Godda-Dumka area is set to witness enhanced energy accessibility, with piped natural gas extending its benefits to over 2 lakh families and various commercial/industrial entities. These initiatives are not just about providing clean fuel; they are about transforming customer experience by offering time and cost savings, alongside generating substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities, thereby sparking a wave of socio-economic prosperity across Jharkhand.
The foundation stone laying ceremony and the inauguration of the PNG project by Shri Hardeep Singh Puri mark a momentous leap towards realizing the vision of providing clean and sustainable energy solutions to the residents of Jharkhand. These projects, through their scale, investment, and impact, underscore a significant advancement in the region’s journey towards sustainable development and energy accessibility, setting a precedent for similar initiatives across the country.
