Honeywell announces $84m expansion in Olathe, Kansas, creating 156 new jobs in aerospace sector
In a significant boost to Kansas’ aerospace and manufacturing sector, Governor Laura Kelly announced that Honeywell will invest $84 million to expand its aerospace manufacturing facility in Olathe, promising the creation of 156 new jobs. This strategic investment is poised to generate nearly $47 million in total gross domestic product (GDP) and contribute $18.3 million in state and local taxes over the first six years of operation.
The expansion will transform the 560,000-square-foot facility into one of Honeywell’s most advanced aerospace manufacturing sites. Currently, the facility is pivotal in producing components critical to Honeywell’s avionics, safety, and flight control systems, including technology for traffic collision avoidance, radar altimeters, and weather radar systems.
Governor Laura Kelly highlighted the expansion as evidence of Kansas’ workforce readiness to tackle high-tech challenges, emphasizing the state’s capacity to retain young talent through promising career opportunities. Honeywell Aerospace Technologies President and CEO, Jim Currier, noted that the expansion would fortify a resilient domestic supply chain for next-generation avionics and printed circuit board assemblies, underscoring Honeywell’s confidence in the U.S. economy and its skilled labor force.
