HCLTech, a prominent player in global technology, has embarked on a partnership with Schneider Electric, renowned for its digital transformation expertise in energy management and industrial automation. The focus of this collaboration is to devise carbon-efficient solutions targeting data centers across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

Tan Boon Hien, Senior Vice President and Head of APAC Sustainability at HCLTech, underscored the importance of this joint venture. “With the growth of the digital economy, it is important that enterprises responsibly manage their data center energy consumption,” he noted. Highlighting the key goals of the collaboration, Hien mentioned that they intend to integrate HCLTech’s IT best practices with Schneider Electric’s operational technology (OT) to boost efficiency, productivity, and modernization of data centers, subsequently reducing the overall carbon footprint.

This comes at a time when worldwide enterprises are investing in sustainability initiatives to enhance their environmental, social and governance (ESG) ratings. The isolation of IT and OT processes in data centers often hampers the optimization of the end-to-end supply chain. To overcome this, HCLTech and Schneider Electric plan to innovate in sustainability and offer converged IT-OT solutions. This would help clients adhere to regulatory compliances and expedite decarbonization programs in the APAC region.

He added, “That’s why we’re excited to partner with HCLTech to develop carbon-efficient solutions for data centers in the Asia Pacific region.” The partnership will leverage the strengths in IT and OT to drive convergence, enabling customers to achieve sustainable data center operations.
