Gateway Distriparks to boost container train fleet to 34 to enhance logistics capacity

Gateway Distriparks Limited (GDL), a prominent integrated intermodal logistics facilitator in India, has announced the addition of a new high-capacity container train, marking its first journey today, with plans to add two more trains by March 2024. This expansion will bring the company’s total to 34 container trains by the end of the current financial year, highlighting GDL’s commitment to growth, operational excellence, and environmental sustainability.

The new high-capacity trains, added on a long-term lease, align with GDL’s objective to fully utilize the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor’s (DFC) capabilities. The DFC allows for heavier loads and significantly faster transit times, which are crucial for modern logistics operations. Gateway Distriparks is strategically positioned in North and West India to maximize the benefits of the DFC. The company’s network of container terminals is designed to use the corridor for the longest possible distances, effectively implementing an efficient hub-and-spoke model. This approach ensures optimal resource utilization, enhancing service delivery and operational efficiency.

In a significant move toward green and sustainable logistics, GDL has introduced 60 new road trailers compliant with BS6 emissions standards. Additionally, the company is in the process of converting existing diesel vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and exploring the integration of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the near future. These efforts reflect GDL’s commitment to adopting greener and more sustainable logistics practices.
