Frontier Developments announces new licensing deal for third Jurassic World game
Frontier Developments plc, a prominent videogame developer and publisher based in Cambridge, UK, has announced a new licensing agreement with Universal Products & Experiences. This agreement paves the way for the development of a third game in the highly successful Jurassic World series, slated for release in the company’s fiscal year 2026, which runs from 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2026.
The collaboration between Frontier and Universal Products & Experiences extends a fruitful partnership that has already produced two major hits: Jurassic World Evolution and Jurassic World Evolution 2, launched in June 2018 and November 2021 respectively. Both games have become top performers within Frontier’s portfolio, generating significant revenue in the first two years post-release. Jurassic World Evolution stands as Frontier’s best-selling game nearly six years after its initial release.
In recent developments, Frontier has sharpened its focus on the creative management simulation (CMS) genre, where it already enjoys a leading position with four successful titles. The company has laid out a strategic plan to release one new CMS game annually over the next three financial years. Following an unannounced own-IP CMS game scheduled for FY25, the newly confirmed third Jurassic World game will debut in FY26, with another unannounced CMS game planned for FY27.
Jonny Watts, Chief Executive Officer of Frontier, expressed enthusiasm about the new project: “We are delighted to reveal that we are developing a third Jurassic World game to extend our collaborative relationship with Universal Products & Experiences for our best-selling game franchise. Our Jurassic World Evolution game franchise has showcased great creative and technical expertise in CMS games and the strength of our select, develop, launch, and nurture strategy in the genre. I very much look forward to providing more information on our exciting plans for the franchise in the future.”
The announcement of a third Jurassic World game by Frontier Developments highlights a strategic move to capitalize on the continued popularity of the Jurassic World franchise, especially with a new Jurassic World film set to release in July 2025. This synergy between the film and game releases could further boost the game’s success, providing a strong momentum for Frontier’s ambitious CMS-focused strategy. With the company’s proven track record, the upcoming game is poised to enhance Frontier’s reputation and financial performance in the gaming industry.
