Electronic toys manufacturer KD Interactive to launch social robot My Loopy
French electronic toys manufacturer KD Interactive, which is known for its range of Kurio tablets and smartwatches, is set to launch a new social robot named as My Loopy for kids, aged four and over, that can teach STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) concepts.
The new three-inch tall social robot My Loopy, which will be priced at $79.99, comes with multi-color animations. KD Interactive has fitted the social robot with LED eyes, which it says will reflect its emotions and reactions while giving it a human-like personality.
The social robot My Loopy, which comes with a rechargeable battery, will be available for sale from Fall 2018.
Commenting on the social robot My Loopy, Eric Levin – Strategic Director of Strategic Director, said: “Teaching early STEM concepts through play is still an important focus in the toy industry and we saw a gap to fill for younger children in particular.
“My Loopy is a fun and quirky robot companion that also introduces early coding skills for kids as young as four.”
KD Interactive describes My Loopy as a big and quirky personality, belonging to the fictional planet Loopitron.
The social robot My Loopy, which has been developed by the scientists at LocoRobo, uses eight different sensors. These sensors include light, tilt, motion, touch, temperature, sound, proximity and gesture.
Besides, the new KD Interactive social robot uses artificial intelligence (AI) to engage children from age four onwards with imaginative visual and auditory play.
The French electronic toys manufacturer claims that the AI technology of the social robot My Loopy enables it to grow and come up with new play patterns based on regular interaction with its human buddy.
Kids can play eight different games with the new KD Interactive social robot, including the well-loved Hide-and-Seek and Simon Says.
Additionally, kids can learn coding their own My Loopy resources by pairing the social robot with the My Loopy app, and also play games that test geography and math skills. The My Loopy app would also help in creating own music for the social robot to dance.
According to KD Interactive, My Loopy reacts to its surrounding environment, for instance when the lights are turned off and it gets dark, it goes to sleep or says “Let’s partyyyyyyyyyyy!” It also shivers when the temperature falls down or complains “Ouch! I’m burning up!” when the mercury levels soar.
The social robot My Loopy is claimed to have over 150 jokes and quirky responses to entertain its human buddy.
