EE North America partners with Victoria County for e-methanol project at Port of Victoria

EE North America, in a strategic move, has partnered with the Victoria County Navigation District to develop an innovative e-methanol project at the Port of Victoria. Project Nightshade, LLC, a subsidiary of EE North America’s parent company European Energy, has secured a 50-year lease in the Port’s North Industrial Park. This partnership, integral to the newly developed Rail Loop Project, represents a significant investment of hundreds of millions in port infrastructure, forecasted to generate over 200 jobs during construction and 60 ongoing local jobs.

European Energy’s Vision for E-Methanol Production

European Energy, nearing the completion of the world’s largest e-methanol plant in Denmark, is set to apply its innovative technology to upscale the e-methanol production at the Port to 100,000 tons/year. This process, utilizing renewable solar and wind energy to produce green hydrogen and oxygen, will then synthesize e-methanol on-site with biogenic carbon dioxide (CO2). Notable companies like A.P. Moller Maersk, Novo Nordisk, and the LEGO Group have already committed as off-takers of this versatile substance, which finds applications in shipping, sustainable green plastics, and heavy transport fuel, aiding in the energy transition.
