Dalmia Cement (Bharat) commissions new cement production line in Cuttack

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (DCBL) said that it has started commercial production at line 2 at its Kapilas Cement Manufacturing Works unit near Cuttack in Odisha.

The new line has been designed to have a capacity of 2.25 million tonnes per annum, said the Indian cement company, which is owned by Dalmia Bharat.

Following the addition of Line 2, the overall capacity of Dalmia Cement (Bharat) at the cement manufacturing plant has moved up to 3.95 million tons per annum.

Mahendra Singhi — MD and CEO of Dalmia Cement (Bharat) said: “We are happy to announce that DCBL has commenced commercial production of Line 2 at our KCW plant. With this, we are a step closer to our goal of taking our capacity from 30.75 million tonnes to 48.5 million tonnes by FY24. Odisha is an important market for us and the commercial production will enable us to cater to the demand for cement from both rural and urban centers in the region.”

“Keeping in mind our philosophy of ‘Clean and Green is sustainable’, we have deployed the latest machinery and technology at the KCMW unit and will be aiming to produce 100% blended cement. This step is also in line with our commitment to become carbon negative by 2040.”

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) said that the development aligns with its commitment to nurturing sustainable growth and generating job opportunities in the region.

This capacity addition will enable us to ensure sufficient and timely supplies thereby adding to efficiencies of the supply chain.”

In August 2021, Dalmia Bharat had disclosed a long-term plan to ramp up its cement capacity in India. The conglomerate had said that it will increase its cement manufacturing capacity to 110-130 million tonnes per annum over the next 10 years.

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited had also signed three memorandum of understandings (MoUs) last month with the Jharkhand government to invest INR 758 crores in the eastern Indian state.
