KPI Green Energy names Surinder Kumar Negi as COO, reinforcing renewable expansion plans

KPI Green Energy Limited has announced the appointment of Surinder Kumar Negi as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), reinforcing the company’s strategic focus on renewable energy growth, power transmission, and grid modernization. Negi, a veteran in India’s power sector, brings over four decades of experience spanning leadership roles in NTPC, POWERGRID, ALSTOM, Reliance Energy, Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (GETCO), and Skipperseil Ltd.

Negi’s expertise in power infrastructure, transmission networks, and large-scale renewable integration is expected to play a crucial role in KPI Green Energy’s expansion strategy. His tenure at GETCO saw the development of 830 new substations and 21,300 km of transmission lines, strengthening Gujarat’s energy grid and ensuring 24×7 uninterrupted power supply.

Strategic Leadership to Drive Renewable Expansion

Under Negi’s leadership at GETCO, the company invested ₹12,000 crore in infrastructure, achieving transmission losses below 4% and a 99.6% system availability rate—both industry-leading benchmarks. He was also at the forefront of implementing smart grid technology, including optical CT, digital substations, AI-driven analytics, and real-time renewable energy forecasting.

At KPI Green Energy, Negi’s focus will be on scaling renewable energy projects, strengthening transmission infrastructure, and expanding both domestic and international operations. His proven track record in executing large-scale clean energy projects is expected to accelerate KPI Green Energy’s role in India’s green energy transition.

Leadership Endorsements

Faruk Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of KPI Green Energy, emphasized the growing demand for robust power transmission networks and scalable clean energy solutions. He noted that Negi’s extensive experience in power infrastructure and project execution will be instrumental in ensuring innovation, efficiency, and sustainability within KPI Green Energy’s expanding portfolio.

Similarly, Dr. Alok Das, Group CEO of KP Group, highlighted that Negi’s expertise in grid modernization and smart energy solutions aligns with KPI Green Energy’s long-term expansion goals. He stressed that Negi’s leadership in executing high-impact renewable projects will contribute significantly to building a cleaner, more resilient energy future.

Positioning for Growth in Renewable Energy

The appointment of Negi comes as KPI Green Energy seeks to strengthen its solar, hybrid, and transmission projects, capitalizing on India’s growing push toward renewable energy integration. With government policies increasingly favoring sustainable infrastructure, KPI Green Energy is well-positioned to scale its operations and contribute meaningfully to India’s net-zero goals.

About KPI Green Energy and KP Group

Founded in 1994 by Faruk G. Patel, KP Group has evolved into a leading player in renewable energy and infrastructure development. Over the past three decades, it has spearheaded significant projects in wind and solar power, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability. KPI Green Energy Limited, the group’s renewable energy arm, continues to drive large-scale clean energy adoption, partnering with companies looking to reduce their carbon footprint.
