Zarafshan wind farm : Goldwind turbines for Uzbekistan wind project

Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology (Goldwind) has received a contract from Masdar, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company to supply turbines for the 500MW Zarafshan wind farm in Uzbekistan.

Under the contract, the Chinese wind turbine manufacturer will deliver 111 units of GW155-4.5MW wind turbines for the Zarafshan wind project.

Located in the Navoi region in central Uzbekistan, the Zarafshan wind farm is expected to significantly improve the local energy mix.

Once fully complete, the wind farm in Uzbekistan will be able to supply enough electricity to power 500,000 households, apart from offsetting 1.1 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.

Goldwind expects to complete the delivery of the Zarafshan wind farm contract by the end of 2024.

The Zarafshan wind project is expected to support Uzbekistan in reaching the goal of expanding the contribution of green electricity to 25% by 2030.
