WABAG wins Rs 420cr order for water treatment plant in Maharashtra

VA TECH WABAG (WABAG), an Indian group specializing in water technology, has announced securing a substantial order worth approximately INR 420 crores for a water treatment plant in Maharashtra.

The order pertains to the design, build, and operation (DBO) of a water treatment plant (WTP) in Jite, Raigad, on behalf of the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited (CIDCO).

The project aims to address the anticipated future water demand in the region of Navi Mumbai. It will involve the treatment of water from the Hetwane dam using a 270 million litres per day (MLD) water treatment plant, after which it will be conveyed to the existing master balancing reservoir (MBR) situated at Vihal for subsequent distribution.

The scope of the project encompasses various crucial aspects, including design, engineering, supply, construction, installation, and commissioning of the 270 MLD water treatment plant. These activities are set to be accomplished within a timeline of 42 months from the project’s commencement. Following this phase, the responsibility of Operation and Maintenance (O&M) will be undertaken by WABAG for a duration of 15 years.

The proposed water treatment plant will implement High Rate Clarifiers to effectively remove high-suspended solids from the water. It will also incorporate Rapid Gravity Sand Filters for further filtration, ensuring the supply of clean and safe water. Moreover, the plant will adopt chlorine disinfection techniques to ensure the highest standards of water quality.
