VST Industries commissions 1MW rooftop solar plants at Telangana factories

VST Industries, an Indian cigarette manufacturer, has commissioned 1MW rooftop solar plants for its manufacturing factories in Telangana.

The rooftop solar plants will cover nearly 25% of the energy needs of VST Industries. This will offset 1,310 MT of carbon dioxide emissions, said the company.

The PV technology plants are spread over an area of 83,247 square feet and are constructed using 2,226 solar modules.

According to VST Industries, the energy generated from the plants will be used at its corporate office in Hyderabad, Azamabad factory in Hyderabad, and Toopran factory in Medak district.

“We have earlier used solar energy for community benefit and have since 2015 installed a total of 2335 solar street lights across about 80 villages/towns in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.”
