Vestas wins contract to supply 11 V150-4.5 MW wind turbines in Portugal

Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has bagged a 50MW contract from an undisclosed customer for the repowering of four wind farms to be built in northern Portugal.

Under the contract, Vestas will be responsible for the supply and installation of 11 V150-4.5 MW wind turbines and a 15-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.

With the four projects, Vestas said that it has reached the milestone of 1GW order intake for Portuguese wind farms.

The Danish wind turbine manufacturer also offers service to nearly 1GW of wind turbines in Portugal of its own as well as other brands.

Agustín Sánchez Tembleque — Vestas Spain and Portugal General Manager said: “With these projects, we reach two great milestones in Portugal, as they are the first with our V150-4.5 MW technology and they led us to reach the landmark of 1 GW of orders in the country.

Vestas expects to deliver the turbines by Q4 2022 while commissioning is likely to take place between the second and third quarters of next years.
