Vedanta Aluminium, India’s preeminent aluminium producer, has announced a landmark expansion, signaling its intent to enter the top tier of global aluminium production. The company has successfully commissioned a new 1.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) expansion at its state-of-the-art alumina refinery in Lanjigarh, Odisha. This strategic move is part of Vedanta’s broader expansion plan, aiming to increase its total production capacity to 3 MTPA. This initiative will elevate the Lanjigarh refinery’s total capacity from 2 MTPA to an impressive 5 MTPA, marking a significant milestone in Vedanta Aluminium’s journey towards becoming one of the top three global aluminium producers.

Vedanta Aluminium is renowned for its extensive range of high-quality aluminium products, including the pioneering low-carbon ‘green’ aluminium range, Restora. These products serve critical roles in various sectors, such as automotive, aerospace, defense, infrastructure, power projects, electricals, and packaging. Additionally, the company stands as one of India’s foremost producers of premier smelter grade alumina (SGA), an essential ingredient for its aluminium plants in Jharsuguda (Odisha) and BALCO (Chhattisgarh).
