US Department of Energy awards VMD Corp $29m cybersecurity contract

VMD Corp (VMD) has secured a $29 million contract with the United States (US) Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), and the Associate Administrator for Information Management and Chief Information Officer (OCIO).

The contract positions VMD as a strategic advisor for the Office of Mission Integration, providing cybersecurity expertise and guiding Governance & Oversight (G&O) across the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE). The objective is to ensure effective information and data management.

CEO Deepti Malhotra expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership. “We look forward to leveraging our cybersecurity expertise in NNSA’s modernization and optimization of the enterprise-wide information infrastructure,” she stated. She also expressed the excitement of the team to include the Department of Energy in their cybersecurity portfolio, which already contains customers such as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Department of State (DoS). “This partnership with the Department of Energy enhances our Cybersecurity mission work in securing the nation’s critical infrastructure,” she added.

The five-year contract will see VMD strengthening NNSA’s security posture. The corporation will provide a range of services including Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) cyber assessments, enterprise project management office (ePMO) expertise, governance, and enterprise policy advisory. The contract also involves implementation support to bolster the NNSA’s defense against cybersecurity threats.
