Uno Minda Limited, a global leader in automotive solutions, has initiated the development of a new passenger vehicle alloy wheel plant in IMT Kharkhoda, Haryana, with a substantial investment of Rs 542 Crore. This move underscores the company’s commitment to bolstering its manufacturing capabilities and supporting the growing demands of the automotive industry.
The plant, aimed to commence its first phase in Q2 FY26, will boast a monthly production capacity of 120,000 wheels. This initiative was celebrated with a groundbreaking ceremony attended by notable figures, including OEM customers, government officials, and the senior management of Uno Minda.
Situated on a strategic land parcel of 94.32 acres at IMT Kharkhoda, secured from Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), the alloy wheel manufacturing facility is part of Uno Minda’s extensive land acquisitions aimed at future expansions. Approximately 25 acres of this acquisition is allocated for the new greenfield project, reflecting the company’s proactive approach to meet the automotive industry’s evolving needs.
IMT Kharkhoda is emerging as a significant industrial hub, further attracting investments with streamlined clearance processes and logistical advantages for manufacturers like Uno Minda. These strategic moves align with the company’s ambition to stay ahead in the competitive landscape, particularly as OEMs announce capacity expansions.
In the past year, Uno Minda has significantly increased its land holdings, acquiring parcels in major auto hubs like Pune’s Khed City Industrial Park and Hosur in Tamil Nadu. These acquisitions facilitate the company’s shift towards securing larger plots for current and future needs, streamlining expansion efforts, and achieving operational efficiencies.
Mr. Nirmal K Minda, CMD of Uno Minda Group, remarked on the expansion, “Over the past two decades, our company has achieved sustained growth, leading to the establishment of multiple plants at various locations. Our strategic expansion plan aims to establish large-scale, technologically advanced megafactories and consolidate existing facilities for enhanced operational efficiency and economic optimization.”
