Trans Mountain Expansion Project : McDermott wins storage tanks contract

McDermott International said that its subsidiary CB&I Storage Solutions has won a contract from a major EPC contractor for the engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction (EPFC) of 14 oil storage tanks as part of the Trans Mountain Expansion Project in Burnaby, British Columbia.

McDermott did not reveal the contract value but indicated them to be priced in the range of $50 million and $250 million.

The tanks to be installed will boost the nominal capacity of the Trans Mountain Pipeline System to 890,000 barrels of oil per day from 300,000 barrels of oil per day, said McDermott.

The company said that the scope of its storage tanks contract includes 14 flat-bottom atmospheric storage tanks of different sizes up to 56.4 meters in diameter. McDermott said that the engineering and installation of the tanks will be carried out by Canadian workers.
